If you don’t want to be like Dr Mad at your next conference, you might want to read the Guardian’s follow up to last week’s link – A guide to asking good questions.

Q&A

There’s always one at every conference.

In 2013 the Times Higher Education Supplement published a list of the six conference questions every academic hears. Dr Mad appears to be going for either the “obstinate question” or the “display of superior knowledge” here.

Dr Mad: Ooh! Me! Me! Me!

Panel 3.
SFX: SWIPE

Panel 4.
Dr Mad: Thank you. I'm sure it would have been a very interesting talk if I'd been listening. I know everyone here MUST want my opinion on this, so let me start a long monologue about my unrelated research.
